Lufthansa lowers result forecast
Following the conclusion of the wage dispute with the pilots’ union, Vereinigung
Cockpit, the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG has revised its profits
forecast (operating result) of EURO1.0 billion for 2001.
This is triggered by additional staff costs of EURO125 million as a result of
the arbitrator’s recommended pay settlement. Added to this are costs of about
EURO75 million resulting from the preceding industrial action. Further factors
which are likely to depress the result by EURO50 – EURO100 million are the
downturn in the world economy and the air traffic restrictions on our operations
caused by the lack of infrastructure.
From today’s point of view Lufthansa therefore anticipates that it will post an
operating result of EURO700 – EURO750 million in 2001.
