Deutsche Post World Net increases revenue in 2002 and exceeds its earnings
expectation
In the fiscal year 2002 Deutsche Post World Net recorded Euro 39.3 billion in
revenues (up 17.6%) and earnings above expectation. The operating result (EBITA)
reached Euro 2.4 billion, down 5% vs 2001, and all division have met or
exceeded their profit targets. STAR projects made a first positive contribution
to the group’s profitability and Deutsche Post World Net reaffirms its goal to
grow the group EBITA to Euro 3.1 billion in 2005.
Net profit (before minorities and extraordinary position) with Euro 1.6 billion
reached previous year`s level. Due to the extraordinary position of Euro 907
million which was caused by the state aid decision consolidated net profit as
expected decreased to Euro 0.66 billion (- 58% vs previous year). This equals
earnings per share of Euro 0.59 (Euro 1.41 per share adjusted for extraordinary
position).
The Board of Management will propose to the Supervisory Board to pay out for
2002 a dividend of Euro 0.40 per share (previous year: Euro 0.37).
The figures herein are preliminary, Deutsche Post World Net will present the
exact figures for 2002 on March 25th, 2003.
