Ad hoc Notice pursuant to Section 15 German Securities Trading Act
Deutsche Post World Net in 2005 increases revenues and earnings –
Management plans group EBIT of at least 5 billion Euros by 2009
Deutsche Post World Net in 2005 recorded an increase in group revenue by
3.3% to 44,594 million Euro. Group operating profit (EBIT) increased by
25.1% to 3,755 million Euro and thus slightly overachieved guidance. All
corporate divisions – with the exception of EXPRESS – met profit targets.
The group operating profit (EBIT) of the EXPRESS division includes an
impairment loss on goodwill of 434 million Euros on DHL´s EXPRESS business
in the Americas region.
The MAIL division managed to keep EBIT stable at 2,030 million Euro, on par
with the high level of previous year of 2,072 million Euro. The EXPRESS
corporate division generated – including the above mentioned goodwill
amortization – an EBIT of 11 million Euro versus 117 million Euro in 2004.
LOGISTICS increased its EBIT to 315 million Euro (2004: 182 million Euro).
FINANCIAL SERVICES will also at least meet the guidance of a 10% increase
in EBIT.
Group net income rose by 39.9% to 2,235 million Euro (1.99 Euro per share),
that compares to 1,598 million Euros (1.44 Euro per share) in 2004.
Accordingly, management sticks to the intention to increase dividend
distributed for 2005 by at least one-third.
Deutsche Post World Net´s management plans to increase group EBIT to at
least 5 billion Euro by 2009. On a divisional level, the company
anticipates a maximum risk for EBIT of the MAIL division of 10-20% by 2009
on 2005 divisional result. For the divisions EXPRESS, LOGISTICS and
FINANCIAL SERVICES the company plans to generate an EBIT of at least 1
billion Euro each by 2009. The region EXPRESS Americas will continue its
path towards break-even in the coming years.
