Deutsche Telekom reschedules plans for initial public offering of
T-Mobile International AG
The Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom AG has decided to
reschedule the preparations for the planned initial public offering
of the company’s subsidiary T-Mobile International AG. The original
plan was for trading in T-Mobile shares to start in autumn 2000.
A final decision on the offering has not yet been taken.
The planned acquisition of the American mobile communications company
VoiceStream, announced on July 24, considerably makes the task of
preparing the necessary listing prospectuses considerably more complex.
Furthermore, potential investors are also setting more stringent
requirements regarding the presentation of the future orientation of
Deutsche Telekom’s mobile communications business and, more
particularly, of T-Mobile International AG.
Deutsche Telekom has taken this decision in response to these
justified interests. Along with meeting all listing requirements
in full, providing full and complete information for investors has
always been Deutsche Telekom’s top priority. This demanding necessity
also includes the need to make transparent the actual value of Deutsche
Telekom’s various business areas in order to achieve a sustained
increase in shareholder value. This includes making clear the growth
and synergy potential of the Deutsche Telekom mobile communications
activities consolidated within T-Mobile, including VoiceStream.
In view of the company’s responsibility as one of the largest companies
on the European capital market, the Board of Management of Deutsche
Telekom has decided to revise the schedule for the T-Mobile share offering.
Deutsche Telekom will inform the public of further developments at the
appropriate time.
