T-Mobile International AG and mmO2 have signed agreement to cooperate on
building UMTS networks in Germany and the UK
Deutsche Telekom’s subsidiary T-Mobile International AG and mmO2 agreed to the
contractual terms of an agreement to cooperate on building UMTS networks. This
follows the signing in June of the Memoranda of Understanding between the two
companies.
There have been thorough negotiations over the past few months, in which both
companies have been clarifying the operating, technical and commer-cial details
of the agreement. The cooperation might lead to positive finan-cial effects of
up to 30 percent from the estimated costs of building the UMTS networks.

Issuer’s information/explanatory remarks concerning this ad-hoc-announcement:
Kai-Uwe Ricke, member of the board of Deutsche Telekom and chief executive
officer of T-Mobile International AG, underlined the importance for mobile
markets in Germany and the UK: “These are the first international agreements of
this kind and it’s an important step for the future.” The rapid conclusion of
the negotiations, he said, emphasises how important it was for both parties to
transform their initial memorandum of understanding swiftly into a binding
contract. Now both companies, together with their subsidiaries in Germany and
the UK, T-Mobil and One 2 One, can proceed “to realize a swift, and more cost-
effective construction of their UMTS networks in the two largest mobile markets
in Europe.”
