DEUTZ sells marine service business to WÄRTSILÄ
Reorganisation of the DEUTZ medium and large engine business completed
DEUTZ Power Systems focussed on power generation
Marine service business will be transferred to Wärtsilä
DEUTZ sells the assets of its medium and large engine marine service business
to the Finnish Wärtsilä Corporation. The acquisition price is EUR 115 million.
The business consists of original spare parts sale, repair and maintenance of
medium and large diesel engines installed in vessels and offshore
applications.
The transfer of the marine engine business comprises the customer information,
know-how, use of brands, use of intellectual property, spare parts stock and
logistics worldwide. Approximately 200 people from DEUTZ organisation will
move to Wärtsilä in different parts of the world.
Wärtsilä will use the DEUTZ Marine brand name and will be the supplier of the
original spare parts and services including technical support for the DEUTZ
medium and large sized marine engine customers worldwide.
The parties aim to close the transaction in the first four months of 2005. The
deal is subject to competition authority approvals.
