Für den Inhalt der Mitteilung ist allein der Emittent verantwortlich. —————————————————————————— ELMOS 2000 : verdoppelter Jahresüberschuß Auf ihrer Bilanzpressekonferenz hat die ELMOS Semiconductor AG die Ergebnisse ihres wiederum herausragenden Geschäftsjahres 2000 vorgestellt. Danach wird ELMOS ihrer im April stattfindenden Hauptversammlung die Zahlung einer Dividende von DM 1,78 pro Aktie (Vorjahr DM 0,91) vorschlagen. Der Umsatz stieg in 2000 um 22% von 169 Mio. DM auf 207 Mio. DM. Gleichzeitig konnte nochmals die Bruttomarge von 50 % auf 52 % gesteigert werden, da konsequent die Produktivität in der Produktion und im Test weiter verbessert wurde. Die Forschungs- und Entwicklungsaufwendungen von 27 Mio. DM (entsprechen 13% vom Umsatz, Vorjahr: 17 Mio. DM = 10 %) stiegen um rund 57 % und stellen die technische Basis für das geplante Wachstum von 25 – 30 % p.a. dar. Das Vorsteuerergebnis betrug 57 Mio. DM nach 46 Mio. DM in 1999. Der auszuschüttende Jahresüberschuß verdoppelte sich von 17 Mio. DM im Jahr 1999 auf 34 Mio. DM. Für das Jahr 2001 wird ein Umsatzziel von 260 Mio. DM angestrebt. Basis der Steigerung wird der weiterhin steigende Automobilumsatz und Einstieg in das Telekomgeschäft sein. Der hochvolumige, technologisch anspruchsvolle Telekommunikationsmarkt ergänzt in idealer Weise das langfristig ausgerichtete Automobilgeschäft. Weiterhin werden die mit dem CMOS-Kamera-Chip begonnenen Aktivitäten auf dem Gebiet der intelligenten Sensoren und Smart Cards ausgebaut. Zusätzlich sieht ELMOS große Wachstumspotentiale in den USA: So wurden im Jahr 2000 Entwicklungsprojekte im automobilen Sicherheitsbereich akquiriert, die jedoch erst in späteren Jahren zum Umsatz beitragen werden. Accordingly ELMOS will suggest its general shareholders meeting in April to pay out a dividend of DM 1.78 per share (year before DM 0.91). Sales rose by 22 % from DM 169 Mio. to DM 207 Mio. in 2000. Simultaneously the gross margin could be increased from 50 % to 52 % again, because the productivity within production and test was improved consequently. The expenses for research and development ended up with DM 27 Mio.(equivalent to 13 % of sales, year before: DM 17 Mio. = 10 %) which is an increase of about 57 %. The new technologies are the technical basis to realise the planned growth rate of 25-30% per year. Income before income taxes resulted in DM 57 Mio. after DM 46 Mio. in 1999. Retained Earnings doubled from DM 17 Mio. in 1999 to DM 34 Mio. in 2000. Sales for the year 2001 should end up with about DM 260 Mio.. This increase will be based on the continuously ascending sales within the automotive business and on getting into the telecom business. In fact, the high-volume, technical demanding telecommunications market will complete the long-term automotive business of the company very well. In addition, the activities related to the intelligent sensor – like CMOS chip camera – and the smart card business will be further extended. On top, ELMOS will follow the great potential of growth in the USA: In the year 2000 some development projects concerning automotive safety systems were acquired but their sales contribution will start later in the next years.
