The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– ELMOS: Above expectations The financial statement of ELMOS Semiconductor AG (FSE: ELG) for the third quarter exceeded in both, sales and earnings, the expectations. Sales of the ELMOS group achieved mEUR 31.0, showing the highest quarterly sales so far (Q3/02: mEUR 29.1). At the same time the gross margin was stabilized on the high level of the previous year and closed at 51% of sales again (Q3/02: 51%). Expenditures for research and development amounted to mEUR 5.2 (Q3/02: mEUR 4.4). Marketing and selling expenses reached mEUR 1.7 (Q3/02: mEUR 1.5), general and administrative costs decreased to mEUR 3.2 (Q3/02: mEUR 3.4) in the same period. Earnings before interest and taxes exceeded the previous year’s value slightly and ended up with stable mEUR 5.6 (Q3/02: mEUR 5.6). Earnings per share of the third quarter increased by 4% reaching EUR 0.15 (Q3/02: EUR 0.14). A plus of 21% boosted the orders received to a total of mEUR 36.9 (Q3/02: mEUR 30.6). In the third quarter, the book-to-bill ratio grew to 1.19 for the whole group (Q3/02: 1.05). The sales target for the year 2003 remains stable, for the next year it is expected that total sales will grow by at least 15%. Total sales increased for the nine months period by more than 12% to mEUR 90.6 (9M/02: mEUR 81.1). Earnings before interest and taxes reached mEUR 16.9 for the first nine months (9M/02: mEUR 13.3), representing an increase of 27%. Earnings per share rose by 30% in the nine months period and amounted to EUR 0.43 after EUR 0.33 in 2002.
