12. Leases

The Company enters into noncancelable operating lease agreements for equipment, buildings and vehicles. The minimum lease payments for the noncancelable operating lease agreements are as follows (in thousands):

Rent expense for noncancelable operating leases approximated $14.1million, $12.5 million and $9.8 million for the years ended December 31, 2015, 2014 and 2013, respectively. The leases are generally renewable at the Company’s option for periods of one to five years.
