The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. —————————————————————————— Preliminary year-end results for 2004 Income doubles again March 07, 2004 The 2004 business year saw a stride forward in the effort to make Silicon Sensor a leading and highly profitable developer and supplier of customized optical sensors for high-tech and microsystem applications. The group clarly exceeded its target of an EBIT margin greater than 15%. Compared with the previous year, sales rose by some 16%, from EUR12 mn to EUR14 mn. Earnings after tax doubled again and increased by about 120% to approx. EUR1.5 mn, despite a major increase in the tax burden. This gave the group a net profit margin of more than 10% for the first time. EBITDA increased 47%, from EUR2.4 mn (Dec. 31, 2003) to EUR3.5 mn (Dec. 31, 2004). Operating results for EBIT more than doubled, from EUR1.1 mn (Dec. 31, 2003) to EUR2.4 mn (Dec. 31, 2004). The EBIT margin was about 18%. The result after tax and interest also more than doubled last year, rising by 105% from EUR0.7 mn (Dec. 31, 2003) to EUR1.5 mn (Dec. 31, 2004). Earnings per share during the period under review were approx. EUR0.65 and doubled as against the year before (EUR0.32 as of Dec. 31, 2003). Operative cash-flow improved by 120%, from EUR1.75 mn (2003) to EUR3.85 mn (2004). The equity ratio rose from 57% (2003) to 66% (2004). At the same time, long-term liabilities were reduced by some 30% to EUR2 mn. Talks underway at the time with big customers were not finalized in 2004 and therefore had no effect on back orders. The level of orders on hand was EUR8.18 mn on Dec. 31, 2004, almost the same as at the end of 2003 (EUR8.38 mn). Staff levels remained unchanged from 2003.
