Silicon Sensor International AG: Infineon places large-scale order

The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. —————————————————————————— Infineon places large-scale order July 31, 2006 After the rapid development of a new packaging technology for making silicon microphones commissioned by Infineon, Microelectronic Packaging Dresden GmbH has now won an order for the production of up to 20 mn units per year over a term of four years to start with. This adds considerably to the company’s back orders. Compared with March 31, 2006, orders on hand rose by approx. 15 %, from €19 mn to about €22 mn, throughout the group. The order further strengthens Silicon Sensor’s leading position in using mounting and bonding techniques to make silicon-based micromechanical sensors, apart from the excellent reputation the group enjoys in the customized developoment and production of optical high-end sensors. A number of market research institutes expect brisk expansion in sales of silicon microphones. From a volume of USD 55 mn in 2005, the market is to grow to USD 680 mn in 2010. Silicon microphones have applications particularly in new generations of cell phones, hand-free systems, notebooks and electronic applicances for digital media.
