Silicon Sensor International AG: Abnormally high profit in the third quarter, Rise in earnings

The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. —————————————————————————— Abnormally high profit in the third quarter Rise in earnings October 23, 2006 As expected, the performance of the Silicon Sensor group during the first nine month of the 2006 business year set a new standard, with sales rising more than 160 per cent over the same period last year, to € 24.5 mn (9/30/2005: € 9.4 mn). The operating result EBIT grew by € 2.5 mn, or 208 %, from € 1.2 mn (9/30/2005) to € 3.7 mn (9/30/2006). The result after interest and taxes was improved from € 845,000 (9/30/2005) to € 2.1 mn, that is an increase of € 1.25 mn. The income per share grew in the third quarter by € 0.15, or 750 %, from € 0.02 (9/30/05) to € 0.17 (9/30/06). Due to an increase in the number of shares, the income per share for the reporting period was € 0.61 Euro, an improvement of € 0.25 Euro compared with last year (9/30/2005: € 0.36). In result the expected earnings for the business year 2006 were already excelled during the first nine months. On that account we increase our forecast for the earnings, expected for the entire business year 2006, by 33 per cent from € 0.60 to € 0.80 per share. Orders on hand have taken a particularly positive development and, for the group as a whole, rose by 180 % to € 21.66mn (9/30/2006) compared to last year (9/30/2005: € 7.72 mn). All figures reflect the current and provisional status of the consolidated annual financial statements and may be amended on the basis of audit findings.
