Berlin and Tokyo, June 13, 2012 – On June 12, 2012, First Sensor AG (Xetra: SIS), a leading provider of individual sensor solutions, signed a distribution agreement with Marubun Corporation, one of Japan's oldest and largest distributors of semiconductor-based products, in order to place a wide range of customer-specific photodiodes on the Japanese market from the portfolio of optical sensor solutions.
First Sensor photodiodes are characterized by maximum precision, maximum speed and low dark currents, in wavelengths from ultraviolet to visible light, as well as ionizing radiation. They are used in a range of applications for various markets such as Life Science, Industrial, Mobility, Security and Aerospace. 'Relationships with customers and, above all, trust between business partners are very important in Japan. Marubun maintains very intensive relationships with its clients. This suits our ethos and we are proud to have found the right partner to market our sensor solutions on this key sales market. We hope to see appreciably stronger revenue in Japan following a market entry phase,' confirmed Dr. Hans-Georg Giering, Chief Executive Officer of First Sensor AG. Marubun leads the market in distributing specialized power electronics with high market volumes for a range of applications in high-end and niche markets. The company offers the world's leading manufacturers of entertainment and consumer electronics a broad spectrum of semiconductor- based products, design and development support as well as global procurement and marketing services. Marubun has already played a significant role in the upturn of Japan's electronics industry with the first successful marketing of integrated circuits on the Japanese market.
