Das junge Internet-Unternehmen entwickelt im Rahmen der Beteiligung mit freenet.de ein Spieleportal, das Spielepreviews und -reviews, Demo-Versionen von Spielen, Patches (Update-Software), News, Community-Plattformen und zahlreiche weitere innovative Services zu aktuellen Spielen anbieten wird. Das Spektrum des neuen Spieleportals schließt sowohl PC-Games als auch die Spiele-Plattformen Playstation I und II, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 sowie kommende Generationen von Konsolen wie Microsoft X-Box oder Nintendos Dolphin ein. Ziel der Kooperation von freenet.de und 4Players ist es, 4Players zu einem der führenden Spieleportale in Deutschland mit zahlreichen, umfangreichen Funktionalitäten auszubauen und den Content-Bereich des freenet.de Portal zu erweitern. Der Launch des Portals wird voraussichtlich im August 2000 stattfinden. The successful Hamburg-based company, one of Germany’s leading online services with more than 1.2 million active users, has acquired 45 per cent of 4Players GmbH, a company headquartered in Heimstätten near Munich. Under the terms of the affiliation with freenet.de the young Internet company will be developing a games portal which offers games previews and reviews, demo versions, patches (update software), news, community platforms and a wide range of other innovative services for the latest games. The bandwidth of the new games portal will include PC games, the games platforms Playstation I and II, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 and future generations of consoles such as the Microsoft X-Box and Nintendo’s Dolphin. The dual objective of the strategic alliance between freenet.de and 4Players is to make 4Players one of Germany’s leading games portals by offering numerous, extensive functions, and also to expand the content section of the freenet.de portal.
