freenet AG to acquire just under 10 per cent of CECONOMY AG

Büdelsdorf, 29 June 2018 – freenet AG [ISIN DE000A0Z2ZZ5] and CECONOMY AG have today concluded an agreement regarding the acquisition of approximately 32.6 million shares issued by CECONOMY AG within the framework of a 10 per cent capital increase (excluding shareholders’ subscription rights) for a total consideration of approximately 277 million euros or 8.50 euros per share. After the capital increase has been carried out, freenet will hold approximately 9.1 per cent of the ordinary shares of CECONOMY AG. The completion of the transaction is subject to customary conditions.

freenet and MediaMarktSaturn, a subsidiary of CECONOMY AG, have already been working together for a long time in retail of consumer electronics in the form of a distribution cooperation, whereby MediaMarktSaturn act as a distribution channel for part of the product portfolio of freenet AG.
