Wuppertal, 21. March 2002 – SMAX listed holding company, GESCO AG, has acquired
all business operations of Schwelm Verladetechnik GmbH, Schwelm, via its newly
founded subsidiary SVT GmbH with retrospective effect backdated to 01.01.2002.
The specialist for loading technology for liquid and gaseous goods employs 120
staff and achieves sales of around EUR 20 million. With an export quota of ca.
75 % the company is internationally active. GESCO holds 90 % of the newly
founded company, the Managing Director holds 10 %. Within the GESCO portfolio,
SVT is part of the Base Technology field of business.
The company’s core product is loading equipment for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
Experts see high growth potential for this market since the transportation of
LNG with special-purpose ships provides independency from pipelines and
therefore offers a larger flexibility in supply. In the market for the
respective loading equipment, SVT offers widespread know-how and considers
itself number two in this market.
