Dr. Georg Obermaier stands for election to ARQUES supervisory board
Former VIAG chairman strengthens industrial expertise
Starnberg, April 27, 2006 – Dr. Georg Obermaier will be available as a new
supervisory board member of ARQUES Industries AG (ISIN DE0005156004). The
65 year old businessman agreed to this step since the ARQUES supervisory
board member, Dr. Friedrich-Carl Wachs, had to give up this function due to
the legal regulations of the stock exchange. In October 2005, Dr.
Friedrich-Carl Wachs took over as chairman of the board of the stock
exchange listed ARQUANA International Print & Media AG (ISIN DE0006781008),
a print holding company in which ARQUES has the majority share. Dr. Wachs
therefore had to resign his position on the ARQUES supervisory board. The
election will take place at the ARQUES annual general meeting on May 30 in
Munich.
Until 1998 Dr. Georg Obermaier was chairman of the board of the VIAG group
which was merged with VEBA into E.ON, after which he was chairman of the
board of RHI AG in Vienna. Dr. Georg Obermaier currently serves on the
supervisory boards of Reinhold & Mahla AG and e-Controll GmbH (Vienna); he
is also a member of the administrative board of Kühne & Nagel AG
(Switzerland).
Dr. Georg Obermaier, who has been a member of the advisory board of the SKW
group since the ARQUES takeover of the steel metallurgy expert, said: ‘I
know ARQUES as a highly professional and dynamic company. I think that I
can give ARQUES an entrance into new business areas through my longstanding
contacts.’
