ARQUES takeover of chemicals company, Oxxynova, approved

Starnberg, October 05, 2006 – The Federal Cartel Office has approved the purchase of the chemicals company, Oxxynova, by ARQUES Industries AG from Degussa. The Federal Cartel Office announced this on October 4, 2006. The responsible Degussa committee had already previously agreed to the transaction. Oxxynova is market leader in the production and marketing of dimethylterephthalate (DMT) in liquid and solid form and generated annual revenues to the value of EUR 182 million with approximately 200 employees in 2005. DMT is a preliminary product in polyester production and is utilised, among other things, in the production of textile and technical fibers, films, lacquer and adhesive raw materials, as well as plastic films. Oxxynova is the tenth ARQUES acquisition in the financial year 2006. The Starnberg-based equity investment company has hereby already exceeded its goal for this year of reaching annualised group revenues of one billion Euro.
