The Supervisory Board of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has
appointed Dr. Sebastian Jürgens as a new member of the HHLA Executive Board
effective 1 January 2009. Until now head of the Intermodal Division of
Deutsche Bahn (German Railways), at HHLA he will be responsible for the
Intermodal and Logistics Segments.

Dr. Sebastian Jürgens is to become a new member of the HHLA Executive
Board. The lawyer, now 44, will assume responsibility for the Intermodal
and Logistik segments effective 1 January 2009.

In the Intermodal Segment, currently headed by long-standing Executive
Board member Gerd Drossel, HHLA is already setting the scene for regulating
the succession, since Gerd Drossel will be retiring at the end of 2008. In
addition, the appointment of Dr. Sebastian Jürgens will involve transfer of
responsibility for the Logistics Segment from Klaus-Dieter Peters,
Chairman, to the new member of the Executive Board.

'We are delighted that with Dr. Sebastian Jürgens we have been able to
attract an extremely experienced specialist for HHLA, who will be a
splendid reinforcement for our team,' says Klaus-Dieter Peters, Chairman of
the HHLA Executive Board.

As head of the Intermodal Division of German Railways until now, Dr.
Sebastian Jürgens has already worked closely together with HHLA for several
years. As a member of the supervisory boards of the joint subsidiaries TFG
Transfracht, Metrans and POLZUG, he also gained insights into HHLA’s
business model.
