Februar 2000. Der Münchener Service-Dienstleister telegate AG und das Schweizer Medienunternehmen Europa Programm Service AG (EPS) haben eine exklusive Kooperation vereinbart. Der Vertrag sieht vor, dass telegate die Fernsehprogramm- Datenbanken von EPS nutzen und seinen Kunden entsprechende Auskunftsdienste anbieten wird. “Die exklusiven Vermarktungsrechte der EPS-Programmdaten ergänzen unser breites Angebot und stärken unsere Position als europäischer Service- Dienstleister”, sagt Dr. Klaus Harisch, Vorstand der telegate AG. telegate-Kunden können den neuen Informationsdienst über die Auskunftsnummer 11880 oder das neue Internet-Service-Portal 11880.com erreichen. Egal ob Titel, Beginn, Dauer oder Genre von Sendungen – telegate gibt Auskunft über das Programm von über 100 europäischen Sendern. Sogar über kleine Details wie Themen oder Gäste von Talkshows wissen die Münchner Bescheid. Eine viertelstündliche Aktualisierung der Daten durch EPS gewährleistet die Aktualität. Als nächster Schritt ist geplant, den Programm-Service via WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) auch für Mobiltelefone anzubieten. Dieser Dienst ist Teil des neuen 11880-WAP-Portals, das telegate einrichten wird. “Wir folgen damit konsequent unserer Strategie, Service über Telefon und Internet immer und überall anzubieten”, sagt Harisch. “Da dürfen TV-Infos auf keinen Fall fehlen.” EPS wurde als Gemeinschaftsunternehmen von fünf gleichberechtigten Partnern gegründet: vom Deutschen Supplement Verlag, Bertelsmann, ZDF-Enterprises, der ProSieben-Gruppe, Ringier und Swiss TXT gegründet. EPS sammelt Programmdaten von rund 100 Fernsehsendern in fünf Sprachen und bereitet diese redaktionell auf, um sie Interessenten zur kommerziellen Nutzung zur Verfügung zu stellen. Zu den Fernsehsendern zählen alle großen nationalen Sendeanstalten, wie ARD, ZDF, CNN, BBC World und andere. Das Unternehmen ist in der Schweiz ansässig. Die Münchener telegate wurde 1996 gegründet und ist seit April 1999 am Neuen Markt der Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse notiert. Das Unternehmen konnte 1999 einen Umsatz von 173,3 Millionen Mark verzeichnen. Zum Angebotsportfolio gehört eine Vielzahl von Leistungen wie Telefonnummern-Auskunft für das Festnetz und alle deutschen Mobilfunknetze, Weitervermittlung an rund 4500 Service-Hotlines, Telefon- und Adress-Auskünfte per Post und Fax. Das im Januar 2000 gegründete Tochterunternehmen 11880.com bietet ein Online-Branchenverzeichnis. Weitere Internet- Serviceleistungen sind in Planung. Under the terms of this agreement telegate will use the television program databases of EPS to offer its clients information services based on this data. “The exclusive marketing rights for the EPS program data are going to compliment our already comprehensive range of services. They will strengthen our position as a European service provider,” Dr. Klaus Harisch, Board Member of telegate AG, says. telegate clients can contact the new information service by dialing the information number 11880, or by accessing the new Internet service portal 11880.com. Whether you are looking for a program title, start time, length, or genre, telegate will provide you with reliable program information about more than 100 European TV stations. The Munich-based service offers information even on minute details, such as the topics or guests of talk shows. EPS updates its data every 15 minutes to ensure the information is always accurate. In a next step it is planned to offer the program service via WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) also for mobile telephones. This service is going to be a feature of the new 11880-WAP portal telegate will set up. “We are consequently pursuing our strategy of providing services that are always and from everywhere accessible via telephone and Internet. Information on TV programs is a vital part of this service,” Harisch states. EPS was founded a joint venture by five partners holding equal rights. These partners are: Deutscher Supplement Verlag, Bertelsmann, ZDF-Enterprises, ProSieben Gruppe, and Ringier & Swiss TXT. EPS collects program data from about 100 TV stations and in five languages. The data is edited by EPS to be sold for commercial use. Among the covered television stations are all important national broadcasters, such as ARD, ZDF, CNN, BBC World, and others. The joint venture’s office is in Switzerland. The Munich-based telegate company was founded in 1996 and has been listed on the New Market of Frankfurt Stock Exchange since April 1999. Last year, the company recorded total revenues in excess of DM 173.3 million. The range of services offered includes numerous facilities, such as directory inquiries for the fixed-line network and all German mobile-telephone networks, call forwarding to around 4,500 service hotlines and telephone and address inquiries by post and fax. 11880.com, the telegate subsidiary founded in January 2000, provides an online directory service. Additional Internet services are being planned. At present, telegate AG employs approximately 2,000 people.
