The company realized the turn around.
Munich, March 7, 2002, Last year, the Munich-based telegate AG has increased its
turnover: After 130.1 million Euro in the business year 2000, the company
realised a turnover of 135 million Euro in 2001. This means a plus of 3.8 per
cent. The number of operated calls climbed 11.8 per cent from 134.3 million to
150.1 million. The company was able to improve its earnings before interest,
taxes and depreciation (EBITDA) from quarter to quarter: Q1 2001: – 6.6 million
Euro, Q2 2001: – 5,9 million Euro, Q3 2001: – 2,7 million Euro. Without the one-
time-payment to BMW, the EBITDA of the fourth quarter 2001 turned even positive
to 0.1 million Euro.
The EBITDA for the entire business year 2001 adds up to minus 18.7 million Euro.
Minus the results of the companys operations which will not be continued within
the telegate-group, the EBITDA amounts to minus 11.8 million Euro. Besides the
optimisation of call centre capacities, telegate stopped its Internet activities
including travelgate and sold its subsidiary PhoneCom.

Issuer’s information/explanatory remarks concerning this ad-hoc-announcement:
For this business year, telegate targets a substantial improvement of its
earnings. The profitable development of the German and Italian business will be
top priority. The company will continue to push the development of its directory
enquiry services business and intends to close this year with a noticeable
positive result. In addition to the optimisation of the service quality, one
main focus will be the regulatory fight for the reduction of datacosts.
On March 11, 2002, the telegate-Board of Management will be extended by one
member: Dr. Paolo Gonano, 41, in charge of the Directory assistance business
unit of SEAT Group, will be also responsible for international activities of
telegate. For the German core business 11880 a further member of the telegate-
Board will be appointed on May 1, 2002. As planned, the contracts of the Board
members Dirk Roesing and Peter Wünsch run out by the end of this year. The
contract of founder, Spokesman of the Board and acting CEO Dr. Klaus Harisch has
been prolonged. He will pass the role of the telegate-CEO to one of the other
Board Members on January 1,2003.
