Bundeskartellamt gives positive rulings in the data-cost proceedings
telegate AG to pay less for subscriber-data
Munich, 16. September 2003 The German Bundeskartellamt has made a sweeping
decision: In the proceedings regarding misuse of a incumbent market position
Deutsche Telekom AG has announced today their agreement to minimize the
excessive costs for providing subscriber-data by 45 percent. This decision is
valid retroactively as of January 1st, 2003 and legally binding. Telegate AG is
expecting an official injunction from the Bundeskartellamt in the next few days.
For telegate AG this decision implies significant cost savings. The fee, which
telegate AG had to pay per used data record will be decreased to 9 Euro cent.
For the current fiscal year 2003 telegate AG is expecting a positive effect of
about 2,5 million Euro on the financial results. The German Bundeskartellamt has
therefore finished their investigations with a positive decision for telegate
AG, although from a corporate point of view and compared to European standards
the costs are still clearly seen as being too high.
