HeidelbergCement is taking over Anneliese Zementwerke AG
HeidelbergCement is taking over Dyckerhoff AG’s 48.8% share in the Westphalian
Anneliese Zementwerke AG in Ennigerloh and raises its own participation as a
result to more than 90%. The acquisition is subject to the approval of the
cartel authorities.
As a result, after the acquisition of the Wetzlar cement plant and of the Königs
Wusterhausen cement grinding plant, south-east of Berlin, at the end of the
previous year, HeidelbergCement is continuing the strategy of extending its
cement activities to Western and Eastern Germany. The Anneliese group operates
four cement plants and numerous ready-mixed concrete locations with the emphasis
on North Rhine-Westphalia. Turnover in 2002 was EUR 160 million with cement
sales volumes at approximately 1.7 million tonnes.
HeidelbergCement becomes market leader on the German cement market with the
acquisition ofthe majority share in the Company. Regardless of the persistent
recession in the construction industry, Germany is the biggest construction
market in Europe with a share of approximately one quarter of all the
construction investments.
At the same time, HeidelbergCement is selling the 24.9% participation of its
Belgian subsidiary CBR in Ciment Luxembourgeois, Luxembourg, to Dyckerhoff AG.
The parties to the contract have agreed on confidentiality regarding the
purchased price of the transactions.
