init wins European tender in Graz
init innovation in traffic system AG has won a tender with a value of over 4 Mio
Euros from Graz public transport services (GVB) against well known
international competitors. By the end of 2003, the Karlsruhe based telematics
provider will equip the operating centre and 270 vehicles with hardware and
software.
The scheme is part of the upgrading of the public transportation network in the
European cultural city for 2003, with which Graz public transport services
intend to increase efficiency and raise the appeal for passengers. In addition
init, as the prime contractor, will supply the vehicle equipment necessary for
the management and transfer of all data and the passenger information system,
along with the computer controlled operational guidance system.
The contract from Graz, which will be predominantly sales-effective in 2003, is
the first in a row of European tenders in which init innovation in traffic
system AG is involved.
With the equipping of Graz public transport services, init innovation in traffic
system AG strengthens its good market position in Austria. Alongside Graz, init
telematic systems are also in use in Salzburg as well as with the Austrian
federal railway.
