The biggest Swedish public transport authority AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafik in Stockholm, signed a contract with a value of more than 100 Mio SEK, approximately 11 Mio Euro. According to this init will equip by end 2004 all approx. 1.700 buses of the public transit authority with a new generation of on-board computers. It is a new development by init, based on PC-technology specifically optimised for automotive use. All application software as well as the communications system for data-transfer based on Wireless LAN-technology between 24 depots and the buses are included. In addition init delivers a system for passenger information on-board of the vehicles. The contract includes also options for the delivery of a computer aided dispatch system (CAD,AVL) plus other hard- and software components. This new Stockholm project is the forth big contract for Init in Sweden. AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafik is customer of the Karlsruhe based supplier of telematic systems since 1990. The leading swedish public transport authority wants to set a new standard with this new on-board computer generation developed by Init. Other Scandinavian public transport authorities have already shown interest in this innovation.
