For the Karlsruhe – based supplier of complete, integrated telematics and fare collection systems for buses and trains, this order volume will generate in excess of 4.2 million Pound Sterling (around 6 million Euro). By the end of 2005, init will provide the vehicle fleet of the leading bus company in London with a Service Quality Control System (SQCS). Following the successful completion of the test phase, in which 28 buses and one depot were initially equipped, the roll-out of the hardware and software for the remainder of the vehicles and depots will now start. In addition to the MOBILE-RBL operating control system, the heart of the system which Metroline will use to manage its fleet of vehicles in the city of London, there is the on-board computer, COPILOT. This computer controls all the telematics functions, organizes the radio communication, and, aided by a GPS calculates the location and the current schedule situation. The complete communication between the depot and the vehicle is accomplished using the public mobile radio standard, GPRS (General Packet Radio Service). For init, this contract with Metroline Plc., which also operates buses in Scotland and Ireland, is yet another milestone in its successful internationalization strategy. After having received major contracts from the USA and Sweden, init has now also gained another important reference customer in Great Britain.
