Intertainment AG achieves a balanced result in the third quarter of 2002
Third quarter characterized by investment activity
Ismaning near Munich, November 28th, 2002 – In the third quarter of 2002 (July
to September) the Intertainment AG, at Ismaning near Munich, achieved an almost
balanced result for the group of minus EUR 0.36 million. The result for the
group during the same period of the previous year was plus EUR 3.3 million. The
result for the first nine months of this year is thus minus EUR 4.5 million, as
compared with plus EUR 4.6 million in the previous year.
In the third quarter of 2002 the Intertainment AG recorded a turnover of EUR 2.3
million, as compared with EUR 4.9 million in the previous year. The turnover
for the Intertainment group in the first nine months of 2002 was therefore EUR
13.8 million as compared with EUR 19.7 million in the same period of the
previous year. This turnover results primarily from the ongoing exploitation of
the film rights to “Art of War”, “Whole Nine Yards” and “Battlefield Earth”, as
well as from the sale of merchandizing products.
The third quarter 2002 was marked as far as the Intertainment AG was concerned
by a number of major investments in current film projects. Principal Photography
of “Blackout”, the first film produced jointly with Arnold Kopelson, was
completed in the third quarter of 2002. As a result, the company’s liquid funds
declined from EUR 18.6 million at 30th June 2002 to EUR 8.2 million at 30th
September 2002.
