Intertainment remains in the black after nine months
Very tense liquidity situation
Munich, November 30, 2005 – Intertainment AG, Munich, concluded the first nine
months for 2005 with net income amounting to 3.0 million euros, following 0.9
million euros in the equivalent year-earlier period. Earnings before Interest
and Taxes (EBIT) rose to 4.3 (September 30, 2004: 1.4) million euros. Sales
in the Group fell to 1.0 million euros. During the first three quarters of
2004, Intertainment generated revenues of 17.4 million euros, mainly due to
exploitation of the film “Twisted”.
Net income for the period under review during the current fiscal year has been
particularly affected by a revaluation of claims for damages arising from the
legal disputes in the USA as a result of exchange-rate fluctuations. These
were mainly incurred during the first half-year of 2005. The total volume of
claims for damages reported was 66.7 million euros on the balance sheet date
of September 30, after 59.1 million euros at the end of 2004.
During the third quarter of 2005, Intertainment generated sales of 0.5 million
euros, following 0.1 million euros in the equivalent year-earlier period.
Earnings were nega-tive for the period under review, amounting to -1.0 (prior-
year quarter: -1.4) million euros. EBIT was -0.9 million euros after -1.8
million euros in the third quarter of 2004.
The liquidity situation of Intertainment was extremely tense at the end of the
quarter. On September 30, 2005 Intertainment had liquid assets amounting to
0.1 million euros following 1.7 million euros at the end of 2004.
