Supervisory board agrees to the proposal of the executive board. The supervisory board and the executive board of JENOPTIK AG, Jena, propose to the company’s ordinary general meeting which will take place on May 31, 1999, to pay a dividend of DM 0.75 per five-DM share for the 1998 fiscal year. At the meeting today (Monday, April 19, 1999) the supervisory board agreed with the proposal for the dividend which was submitted by the executive board of the technology group. The proposal is in accordance with the statement to pay an attractive dividend made during the initial public offering in June 1998. “With the distribution of the dividend we would like to show our shareholders that we will continue to increase the group’s long-term earning capacity,” said Jenoptik’s chairman Dr. h. c. Lothar Späth. The company’s share capital of DM 185 million is divided into 37 million ordinary bearer shares, each with a nominal value of 5 DM. This means that following the approval of the annual general meeting DM 27.75 million of unappropriated earnings in 1998 will be paid to the shareholders of JENOPTIK AG for the first time. The annual financial statements of JENOPTIK AG for fiscal 1998 will be published at the news conference which will take place in Jena on Wednesday, April 21, 1999 at 11 o’clock. The short version of the annual report will then be available on the internet. It will also soon be sent to the shareholders through the banks that keep the securities on deposit.
