M+W Zander US Inc. acquires 100 percent of Knight Advanced Technology, Inc.. M+W Zander, a subsidiary of the Jenoptik technology group (German listing 622 910), is expanding its United States market position considerably. M+W Zander’s American subsidiary, M+W Zander US Inc., has acquired 100 percent of all shares of Knight Advanced Technology, Inc., effective July 1st, 2001. The Chicago-based company specializes in consulting, design and engineering services for electronics companies and for private and state scientific and research institutions. In the year 2000, around 160 employees contributed to the company’s sales of approximately US$ 33 million. With the acquisition, M+W Zander augmented its expertise on the U.S. market, particularly in the area of industrial architecture and engineering services. The capacities of Knight Advanced Technology, Inc. will strengthen the market position of M+W Zander in the planning and the engineering of production facilities for the electronics industry. Knight Advanced Technology’s capabilities and client base will enable M+W Zander to transfer expertise to additional rapidly growing industries in the United States as well. The acquisition also will strengthen M+W Zander’s regional presence throughout the United States. In addition to its Chicago headquarters Knight Advanced Technology, Inc. is represented in other important American centers such as Phoenix and San Francisco. M+W Zander will now be able to profit from closer proximity to its customers and from a stronger presence on the U.S. market.
