The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Jenoptik’s subsidiary M+W Zander receives major order to engineer a solar cell factory for SolarWorld AG. Investment volume of more than 40 million euros. M+W Zander, a subsidiary of JENOPTIK AG of Jena, Germany, will engineer and construct the turnkey solar cell factory for SolarWorld AG. The investment volume will amount to more than 40 million euros. SolarWorld’s subsidiary, Deutsche Solar GmbH of Freiberg will begin production at its Freiberg (Saxony) site at the end of 2002. The production unit will at first provide 25 megawatts (MW) of solar cell production capacity. M+W Zander will then be equipping the complete complex with all the necessary infrastructure for a total of 50 MW of production. In addition to planning and constructing the solar cell factory and its complete infrastructure, M+W Zander will also be in charge of the integration, installation and activation of the process equipment. M+W Zander will therefore not only be charged with engineering the factory but also with providing a smooth start to its active production. SolarWorld AG has turned to Jenoptik’s M+W Zander subsidiary to engineer its new solar cell facility on the strength of the company’s years of competence in the engineering of turnkey complex production facilities. In the past several years, the Jenoptik subsidiary has repeatedly been successful in transferring its competence and expertise from the semiconductor industry to other sectors that also depend on special production environments.
