LS telcom: Q2 report (6 month report) for the period Oct. 1, 2001-March 31, 2002 Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Overall decrease of revenue in the first six months period at LS telcom Segment Software for Network Operators achieves growth of 41% Lichtenau, May 17, 2002. While the business went forward as planned during the first quarter, Q2 finally lead to results well below plan. Sales revenues of EUR 5,323 thousand were achieved, corresponding to a 9% decrease compared to EUR 5,839 thousand of the same period the prior year. Sales by the Software for Network Operators business segment showed a very positive development and managed to raise sales revenues by 41%. Owing to the low sales and a decrease of work in progress on the one hand, and an increase in amortisation and depreciation as well as in personnel expenses, on the other hand, EBIT has fallen on the year-before period from EUR 613 thousand to EUR -997 thousand. This, despite effective cost management resulted in significant savings in the other operating expenses and in cost of materials. Net loss for the six months period is EUR -459 thousand, compared to EUR 400 thousand for the same period the year before. The loss per share thus comes to EUR -0.09. A one-time value adjustment of EUR 200 thou-sand set up as a provision for possible impairment is included herein. As at March 31, 2002, LS telcom held cash and cash balances of EUR 14,016 thousand or EUR 2.63 per share. As was the case in 2001, the current business year constitutes a major challenge for LS telcom because of the overall uncertainty in the telecommunications market relevant to us, not just limited to the mobile networks an their UMTS roll-out. While specific requirements of network operators and system providers at the beginning of the business year indicated an improve in sales from April 2002, this did not realise until now. A similar trend was observed in the Software for Regulatory Authorities segment, where after having won several tenders, contract negotiations and closing is delayed, out of control of LS telcom. Considering the unforeseeable negative development in Q2, it seems no longer possible to reach the plan with regard to sales revenue and profit. LS telcom will publish a revised planning, as soon as an appropriate amount of visibility in our relevant market can be assumed again. end of ad-hoc-announcement (c)DGAP 17.05.2002 ——————————————————————————– WKN: 575440; ISIN: DE0005754402; Index: Listed: Neuer Markt in Frankfurt; Freiverkehr in Berlin, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover, München, Stuttgart 171749 Mai 02
