With the purchase of the pharmaceutical company Westdeutsche Cyclotron GmbH (WCG) in Bonn, MediClin AG integrated a manufacturer of state-of-the-art medical products into the services it provides. WCG was initially engaged in the production and development of radio-pharmacological products necessary for nuclear-medical diagnostics. WCG generated sales of Euro 3.2 million in 2001. WCG, located in Bonn, is primarily specialized in the production of substances used in positron-emission tomography (PET). PET is a promising procedure that permits exact and early identification of initial carcinomas and metastases, and also of cardiological and neurological conditions with only very little stress involved for the patient.
