MediClin AG: net profit balanced – sales below expectations
Frankfurt, August 13, 2002 Today MediClin AG, one of the big clinic operatiors
in Germany anounced that sales from April to June 2002 were below expectations.
The demand for medical treatment and services were declining due to the cyclical
development especially the situation at the employment market.
Sales in the second quarter amounted to 95.2 million Euro or 24.8 per cent
above the previous years quarterly figure (76.2 million Euro). Without
acquisitions sales decreased by 2.7 per cent. In the first quarter of the
current financial year sales reached 82.4 million Euro, without newly acquired
clinics 61.1 million Euro.
Based on preliminary figures net profit balanced for the second quarter 2002.
The Management Board now assumes that the originally announced objectives for
the financial year 2002 are not achievable any more.
MediClin will show positive results for the whole financial year of 2002.
Detailled statements of the second quarter and the first half year of 2002
will be published on August 29, 2002.
