2001: Strong performance due to MEDION’s successful business model Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– 2001: Strong performance due to MEDION’s successful business model EPS rises by 59 percent to EUR 1.46 Thanks to its successful business model, MEDION made inroads into the market in business 2001 despite the tough overall conditions. Compared with the prior year (Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2000) sales rose from EUR 1,626 million by 30.2 percent to EUR 2,117 million. Innovative products in particular such as TFT screens, DVD players, widescreen TVs, Dolby Surround systems or digital cameras, accounted for EUR 250 million of total sales. Earnings for the business year under review reflect the favorable sales trend. EBIT rose 33.2 percent from EUR 91.1 million in financial 2000 to EUR 121.3 million. Group net income for the year increased by 59 percent from EUR 44.1 million to EUR 70.1 million, and EPS thus surged from EUR 0.92 by EUR 0.54 to EUR 1.46. Thanks to the steady earnings trend the Supervisory and Management Boards propose to the Annual General Meeting that a dividend of EUR 0.50 per share be disbursed for business 2001. Share of sales booked outside Germany rises significantly We were particularly pleased with the fact that we scored EUR 500 million or 23.6 percent of sales outside Germany. We recorded our first sales in the United States, with the volume there coming to EUR 10 million. We have thus almost achieved our goal of posting one quarter of total sales outside Germany by the year 2002. We assume that the forward expansion of our foreign activities will enable us to lock into considerable sales and earnings potential in coming years Sound finances We were able to improve the cash flow from ongoing business activities by more than EUR 100 million from EUR -57 million to EUR +50 million. We have thus strengthened the Company’s own depth in financial resources. Favorable outlook MEDION is well-equipped to meet the challenges of the market – even in difficult economic times. We are therefore confident that in 2002 we will again achieve our target of 25-30 percent annual growth as outlined on the occasion of our IPO. end of ad-hoc-announcement (c)DGAP 20.03.2002 ——————————————————————————– WKN: 660 500; ISIN: DE0006605009; Index: NEMAX- 50 Listed: Neuer Markt in Frankfurt; Freiverkehr in Berlin, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover, München und Stuttgart 200659 Mär 02
