The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– MLP: Very strong organic growth despite poor economy Heidelberg, 31st January 2002 – MLP AG, the leading European Private Finance Group, has shown strong growth rates in the 2001 business year, too. MLP has succeeded in uncoupling itself from the poor economic trend, in expanding as forecast and in achieving new record levels for all major business figures. According to preliminary figures the group has increased the total consolidated revenues by 32 percent to EUR 1,080 (816.4) million. The consolidated pre-tax group profits rose despite the high investments in IT systems, in new staff and in the branch office network. This figure was reported at EUR 151 million in comparison with EUR 114.8 million in the 2000 business year. This represents an increase of more than 30 percent. MLP succeeded in improving its results after tax even more. These climbed by some 45 percent to some EUR 90 (61.9) million. MLP Finanzdienstleistungen AG, the group’s consulting arm, opened 105 new branch offices. As a result, MLP had over 325 (220) branch offices at the end of 2001. MLP views these steps as investments in the future corporate development. MLP Finanzdienstleistungen AG has been able to record a total of 82,500 (66,203) additional new clients. As a result the client base grew by 22 percent to 453,000 (370,512) clients who are supported by 2,566 (2,021) Financial Consultants. The MLP Group forecasts continuing dynamic growth in terms of both revenues and profits for the current business year. With the entry into the very wealthy private banking segment MLP extends its successful strategy for the coming years. MLP will also continue to focus upon its foreign strategy based on organic growth with the market entry in Spain this year.
