Business Development in the first half of 2002
Heidelberg, 2 August 2002 – An initial rough analysis of business figures of the
first half of 2002 has shown that the MLP Group will report a pre-tax profit
not exceeding the one reported for the same period last year (EUR 53.7 million).
However, new business growth in the broking of life and health insurance is at
around 15 percent compared to the same period last year.
MLP sees the reason for this development on one hand in the unjustifiable
negative media coverage of the company and on the other hand on the weak
condition of capital markets.
The presumably further weak capital markets as well as possible consequential
damage due to negative media coverage during the last months lead to the fact
that the company, from today’s view, will not be able to reach its originally
projected pre-tax profit growth of some 30 percent for 2002.
The detailed half-year results and business development will be published on 15
August 2002.
