Bayer extends Collaboration with MorphoSys – Agreement extended for 4 additional
Years
Martinsried/Munich, Germany, July 4, 2001 – MorphoSys AG (Neuer Markt: MOR)
announced today an extension of its ongoing collaboration with Bayer for an
additional four years. Under the terms of the original agreement, MorphoSys
collaboration with Bayer was scheduled to last for two years, with an option to
extend the collaboration for an additional four years. Bayer exercised their
option to extend the agreement, and will continue making license payments to
MorphoSys as well as milestone payments and royalties on any resulting antibody
products. MorphoSys will generate fully human therapeutic antibodies against up
to ten targets provided by Bayer. The first milestone in the collaboration was
achieved in February 2001 through MorphoSys generation of a high-affinity
antibody against an undisclosed Bayer target. The collaboration agreement also
specifies other areas in which the companies will work together using MorphoSys
technologies, including genomics research and diagnostics.
