NOTE 7 — ACCUMULATED OTHER COMPREHENSIVE INCOME
Total comprehensive income for the fiscal six months ended July 3, 2011 was $8.6 billion, compared with $5.3 billion for the same period a year ago. Total comprehensive income for the fiscal second quarter ended July 3, 2011 was $3.6 billion, compared with $1.6 billion for the same period a year ago. Total comprehensive income included net earnings, net unrealized currency gains and losses on translation, net unrealized gains and losses on securities available for sale, adjustments related to employee benefit plans, and net gains and losses on derivative instruments qualifying and designated as cash flow hedges. The following table sets forth the components of accumulated other comprehensive income.
