MILLICOM PASSES 6 MILLION CUSTOMERS

New York, Stockholm, London and Luxembourg – May 10, 2004 – Millicom International Cellular SA (Nasdaq Stock Market: MICC, Stockholmsbörsen: MIC), the global telecommunications investor, today announces that it passed the 6 million gross subscriber mark in April 2004.

Marc Beuls, President and CEO of Millicom International Cellular commented: “Since the end of the first quarter we have seen strong subscriber growth in all clusters and especially in our operations in Vietnam, Cambodia, Paraguay, Guatemala and Senegal.”

Millicom International Cellular S.A. is a global telecommunications investor with cellular operations in Asia, Latin America and Africa. It currently has a total of 16 cellular operations and licenses in 15 countries. The Group’s cellular operations have a combined population under license of approximately 387 million people.
