Nemetschek Developing Customer Relationship
Management Market Potential
Acquires 30 % Interest in S3 AG
MUNICH – The Munich Nemetschek AG has acquired
a 30 percent share in S3 AG, and will be
engaged in the strong Customer Relationship
Management (CRM) growth market in the future.
S3, with headquarters in Hamburg, is one of the
market leaders in Germany and has forecast
sales of more than 15 million Marks for 1999.
Leading market research institutes, such as the
Gartner Group, predict annual growth of over
50 percent for the CRM software market. This
means that by the year 2002, worldwide market
volume will climb to 4 billion dollars, of
which 1.9 billion Marks will be in Germany
alone.
“Customer relationship management is one of the
predominant growth markets of the coming years.
Because of our interest in S3, we will be
profiting from the enormous sales potential
within one of the growth markets of the future.
Using the know-how of these CRM specialists,
we will also be able to develop new market
segments within the construction industry.
Even today well-known companies like BRAAS
Roofing Systems and Sto AG are S3 customers,”
said Prof. Georg Nemetschek, Chief Executive
Officer of Nemetschek AG. Together with S3,
the Nemetschek Corporation will further grow
the CRM market and will rapidly and
successfully drive the field of computer aided
selling (CAS).
In addition to the construction materials
supply industry, S3 will be focusing on
companies marketing brand-name products, as
well as the pharmaceutical and service
industries. The goal of S3 is to build up its
leadership position in Germany and expand into
Europe using a generation of products based on
new Internet technologies. Opportunities have
also been opened up for Nemetschek to assume
product concepts from S3, customize them to the
fields of design, construction and utility, and
then successfully market them. Additionally,
Nemetschek is providing infrastructure support
for the expansion into European markets.
In Germany, Nemetschek is the number 1 in
CAD/CAE (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided
Engineering) software within the construction
industry based on sales and earnings. The
corporation has set a sales target of 241
million Marks for 1999. Worldwide more than
70,000 customers work in the field of structure
design, construction and utility using
Nemetschek Group IT systems.
