Common Stock Repurchases
On November 6, 2019, the Company’s Board of Directors approved a $200 million stock repurchase program (the “2019 November Program”). Under the 2019 November Program, the Company is authorized to repurchase up to $200 million of common stock. The 2019 November Program expires on December 31, 2021. During the three months ended September 30, 2020, under the 2019 November Program, the Company repurchased and retired 228,180 shares of common stock at an average price per share of $166.05 for an aggregate amount of $37.9 million. As of September 15, 2020, the Company had no remaining balance available for share repurchase under the 2019 November Program.
On May 5, 2020, the Company's Board of Directors approved a $500 million stock repurchase program (the “2020 May Program”). Under the 2020 May Program, the Company may repurchase up to $500 million of its common stock. The 2020 May Program expires on March 31, 2022. During the six months ended December 31, 2020, under the 2020 May Program, the Company repurchased and retired 682,956 shares of common stock at an average price per share of $168.03 for an aggregate amount of $114.8 million. The Company made no repurchases during the three months ended March 31, 2021.
Under both programs, for the nine months ended March 31, 2021, the Company repurchased and retired 911,136 shares of common stock at an average price per share of $167.53 for an aggregate amount of $152.6 million.
As of March 31, 2021, the Company had $385.2 million available for share repurchases under the 2020 May Program.
