<p style="margin:0in 0in .0001pt;text-indent:.5in;"><font size="2" face="Times New Roman" style="font-size:10.0pt;">On April&nbsp;28, 2014, American Homes 4 Rent (the &#147;Company&#148;) announced that the Board of Trustees had elected Diana M. Laing, age 59, as Chief Financial Officer of the Company, effective May&nbsp;18, 2014.&#160; From May&nbsp;2004 through December&nbsp;2013, Ms.&nbsp;Laing served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of Thomas Properties Group,&nbsp;Inc. in Los Angeles, California. Thomas Properties Group,&nbsp;Inc. was a real estate operating company specializing in the development, redevelopment and operation of Class&nbsp;A office properties until it completed a merger into Parkway Properties,&nbsp;Inc. in December&nbsp;2013. Since February&nbsp;2014, Ms.&nbsp;Laing has been a consultant to the Company. She will terminate her consulting activities with the Company when she joins the Company as Chief Financial Officer on May&nbsp;18, 2014. Ms.&nbsp;Laing is also a member of the Board of Directors of The Macerich Company (NYSE: MAC), a real estate investment trust that owns shopping malls, where she is Chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Compensation Committee. Ms.&nbsp;Laing graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.</font></p>

Her bonus for 2014 performance will be determined in early 2015 at the discretion of the Compensation Committee. The Board will consider equity awards for Ms.&nbsp;Laing at a future date.</font></p>
