Heath Mitts to serve as Chief Financial Officer effective March&nbsp;1, 2011, upon Dominic Romeo&#146;s
previously announced retirement. Mr.&nbsp;Mitts has been serving as Vice President &#151; Corporate Finance
since September&nbsp;2005. Mr.&nbsp;Mitts does not have any family relationships with any of the Company&#146;s
directors or executive officers and is not a party to any transactions listed in Item 404(a) of
Regulation&nbsp;S-K.

<DIV align="left" style="font-size: 10pt; margin-top: 6pt">(d)&nbsp;On February&nbsp;22, 2011, Neil A. Springer informed the Company that he has decided to retire and
resign from the Company&#146;s Board of Directors effective at the Company&#146;s annual meeting of
stockholders to be held on April&nbsp;5, 2011. Mr.&nbsp;Springer is a Class&nbsp;III director of the Company
whose term expires at the Company&#146;s 2013 annual meeting of stockholders, and is a member of the
Company&#146;s Audit Committee and Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. Mr.&nbsp;Springer&#146;s
resignation is not the result of any disagreement with the Company or its management.

<DIV align="left" style="font-size: 10pt; margin-top: 6pt">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Also on February&nbsp;22, 2011, the Company announced the appointment of Livingston Satterthwaite
to serve as a Class&nbsp;III director to serve until the Company&#146;s 2013 annual meeting of stockholders.
Mr.&nbsp;Satterthwaite&#146;s appointment is effective upon the resignation and retirement of Mr.&nbsp;Springer at
the Company&#146;s annual meeting of stockholders to be held on April&nbsp;5, 2011. Mr.&nbsp;Satterthwaite will
also serve on the Company&#146;s Audit Committee.

Common Stock of IDEX Corporation (the &#147;Company&#148;) at the exercise price designated above, in
accordance with the provisions of the IDEX Corporation Incentive Award Plan, as Amended and
Restated effective April&nbsp;6, 2010 (the &#147;Plan&#148;). This option may be exercised for whole shares only.

of Service is at least 70. &#147;Years of Service&#148; means the number of full years that you have been
employed by or providing service to the Company or any of its Subsidiaries.

any part, at any time. However, a vested option must be exercised, if at all, prior to the earlier

for which you are employed at the time of the transaction;

the Company withhold shares otherwise to be delivered with a fair market value equal to the minimum
amount of the tax withholding obligation; or (ii)&nbsp;surrendering to the Company previously owned
Common Stock with a fair market value equal to the minimum amount of the tax withholding
obligation. If you are subject to United Kingdom income tax and/or national insurance
contributions, the Company or any Subsidiary may withhold or collect any income tax and national
insurance contributions: (i)&nbsp;by deduction from salary or any other payment payable to you at any
time on or after the day an income tax charge arises in respect of an option; (ii)&nbsp;directly from
you by payment of cleared funds; or (iii)&nbsp;by arranging for the sale of some of the shares of Common
Stock to which you are entitled following the exercise of your option.

<DIV align="left" style="font-size: 10pt; margin-top: 6pt">IDEX Corporation (NYSE:IEX) today announced that Neil Springer informed the company of his
intention to retire and resign from the IDEX Board effective at the 2011 Annual Meeting of
Stockholders on April&nbsp;5, 2011. Mr.&nbsp;Springer joined the company&#146;s Board in February&nbsp;1990. On April
6, 2010, he was reelected to serve a three-year term ending at the IDEX Corporation 2013 annual
meeting of stockholders.
</DIV>

<DIV align="left" style="font-size: 10pt; margin-top: 6pt">Commenting on the resignation, IDEX Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Larry Kingsley said, &#147;Neil
has been a highly valued Board member. In addition to his general Board duties, he has served
during his long tenure on all of the Board Committees, including as Chair of the Nominating and
Corporate Governance Committee from 2002 until 2010. We thank him for his many years of service.
