Share-based Payments Share-based PaymentsWe account for share-based payments through the measurement and recognition of compensation expense for share-based payment awards made to employees and directors over the related requisite service period, including stock options, performance stock units, and restricted stock (all part of our equity incentive plan), as well as stock units representing certain deferrals into our director deferred compensation plan or our supplemental deferred savings plan.

We recognized excess tax benefits of $1.3 million and $4.2 million related to share-based payment awards during the three months ended November 30, 2022 and 2021, respectively.
