NorCom enters into OEM agreement with U.S. enterprise software provider
– Partnership with business management software company Savvion
– E-security provider NorCom is consistently implementing its OEM strategy in
the U.S.
– NorCom’s NGS BeanGuard becomes an integral element of Savvion’s
BusinessManager BPM platform
Munich, September 24, 2001 – NorCom Information Technology AG, headquartered in
Munich, continues the successful implementation of its Partner and OEM strategy
despite the present tense economic situation. NorCom, a Munich-based specialist
for Extranet Access Management and E-Security, has now gained a key U.S.
partner, Savvion, that like NorCom, serves large-scale enterprises on an
international scale. Within the scope of the OEM agreement, NGS BeanGuard,
NorCom’s latest software for simple and highly secure access management for Web
applications and platforms, will become an integral element of the Savvion
product, BusinessManager. The companies anticipate that the OEM agreement will
lead to key synergies: NorCom stands to gain an important new distribution
platform (especially overseas) and Savvion will supplement the functionality of
its product with one of the best Access Management technologies in the market.
Savvion BusinessManager is a comprehensive platform that helps enterprises to
automate and manage critical business processes, particularly in the e-business
environment. The agreement between the two companies is effective immediately.
Savvion will integrate the NorCom access management software into
BusinessManager 4.0, a 100% Java-based and fully J2EE-compliant version that is
scheduled to be available in the first quarter of 2002.
Dr. Ketabchi, President and CEO of Savvion, concluded: “We have been on the
lookout for a security technology that meets our stringent requirements and can
be seamlessly integrated into our software. We are convinced that NGS BeanGuard
will be an important extension to BusinessManager as it helps us to meet our
customers’ access and security needs and in turn enhances our sales and growth
potential.” Liliana Nordbakk, COO of International Business Development for
NorCom, adds: “Savvion and NorCom have similar customer structures and
complement each other particularly well in the market. We are very well
acquainted with the security requirements of major companies that Savvion also
serves. Moreover, NGS BeanGuard is fully compliant with the new J2EE standard.”
Nordbakk adds: “Savvion BusinessManager is already used by recognized industry
leading corporations like Cisco and 3Com where it enjoys an outstanding
reputation. Accordingly, we are very proud of our partnership with Savvion.”
In addition to the OEM Agreement, NorCom and Savvion have already signed a
Memorandum of Understanding providing for the extension of the companies’ joint
business activities.

NGS BeanGuard protects websites and applications right up to the instance level
of Enterprise Java Beans (EJB). This enables the system to perform individual
authentication, authorization, monitoring and administration of access
privileges across and beyond specific system platforms and domains. Despite the
extremely differentiated protection concept, the implementation of NGS BeanGuard
is particularly easy thanks to the prepared interfaces to web and application
servers. The administration is performed via default web browsers. In the web
server environment, the system protects everything from simple HTML pages and
servlets, Java Server pages (JSPs), Active Server pages (ASPs) right up to
graphic elements. In addition, NGS BeanGuard secures all resources on
application servers. Unlike the security technologies integrated in operating
systems and web servers, NGS BeanGuard can control access to all components of
complex e-Business environments on a centralized basis. For instance, the system
enables users to change domains after logging in without having to keep
identifying themselves (Single Sign-On).
Savvion provides software that lets companies operate at their peak efficiency.
For the enterprise market, Savvion BusinessManager is a comprehensive business
process management platform that allows companies to align their business

applications, reducing time to market. By supporting business processes within
applications and across enterprises, while providing complete visibility and
control over their execution, Savvion solutions delivers significant operational
