Ticket Online to implement NorCom NGS BeanGuard security product
E-business platform for the on-line sale of tickets to be fitted with NorCom’s
access management system
Munich, October 29, 2001 — NorCom Information Technology AG, a leading vendor
of IT security solutions, will be supplying Ticket Online, one of the largest
operators of ticketing software networks and electronic ticket sales platforms
in Germany (www.ticketonline.de), with its NGS BeanGuard security software. With
its high customer frequency, the Ticket Online Internet portal has links with
roughly 800 sales outlets, theater box offices, organizers of cultural and
sports events as well as affiliate portals and call centers. It is now to be
moved to an ultramodern BEA Web Logic 6.1 e-business platform step by step.
Users will be able to order goods and tickets on the new platform on a cross-
border and cross-currency basis. NorCom will be supplying the security component
of the new e-business solution in the form of NGS BeanGuard. This product
complies with the latest J2EE technological standards, allowing ticket vendors,
organizers and venue operators to manage access rights efficiently via a central
control system. The basis release of the new platform is due to be rolled out
at the beginning of 2002.
The e-business platform is a latest-generation software product meeting all the
business and security requirements of a ticket system of the future. In
addition, it offers organizers and venue operators additional sales potential by
linking gastronomy, tourism or merchandise products to tickets via a wide range
of different distribution channels and using many different forms of payment.
NGS BeanGuard forms the integrated security component of the Ticket Online e-
business platform, providing the J2EE-based Internet applications with all the
functions of the NGS BeanGuard access management system for web applications and
portals. Thus, managing authorization and authentication controls is made
simple. At the same time, the new system is highly flexible. The security
settings are managed and security data updated either centrally via the Ticket
Online server or on a local basis by the individual organizers. This ensures
maximum simplicity and transparency in the management of rights and
responsibilities at all times in spite of the mounting complexity of portals and
related systems.
The Ticket Online platform has been designed as an open system and comes
complete with numerous predefined entry and payment systems as well as reporting
functions such as cash ledgers, multichannel campaign analyses, event analyses
and the like. Thus, when it came to choosing a security system, priority was
given to the ability to integrate external systems and to add new Internet
applications and services on an ongoing basis. As NGS BeanGuard is based on the
BEA platform, new Internet applications can immediately access the NGS BeanGuard
security system without any additional development work being necessary. This
saves time and money when new Internet services are rolled out or new business
processes integrated.
“We looked intensively for a security technology and tested software in
extensive analyses. NGS BeanGuard has a decisive advantage in that it is highly
scalable and easy to integrate. This means that security is no longer an
obstacle when new software is implemented. Using NGS BeanGuard, we are able to
keep our customers’ security data updated at all times as the administration
component is very transparent and easy to use. This is particularly appealing to
our customers as we are able to make broader and individualized web content
available,” explained Dr. Klaus Zemke, managing director of Ticket Online GmbH.
