Nova Television (Sofia/Bulgaria) has opted for the NCPower multimedia
production system
Munich, May 7, 2007 – NorCom has signed a contract with Sofia-based TV
broadcaster Nova Television, thus achieving a further success in its
software product business and allowing it to enter the Bulgarian market
following on from its sales successes in Russia and Lebanon. Nova
Television will be using the NCPower Newsroom production system and the
NCArchive archiving system as a basis for implementing an end-to-end
digital, tape-free environment covering all steps along the TV production
chain.
NCPower will be deployed in all core TV broadcasting processes such as
ingestion, archiving and playing out. Ultimately, all content produced by
Nova Television will be handled via NCPower Newsroom and NCArchive. The new
system will be going live in the next two months.
Established in 1994, Nova Television is now the second-largest commercial
broadcaster in Bulgaria with around 200 employees. NCPower offers Nova
Television a modern integration platform allowing broadcasting content to
be produced more quickly, flexibly and efficiently.
Scalable performance and cost efficiency
The entire project will be overseen by the general contractor Broadcasting
Center Europe (BCE), Luxembourg, which will be working closely with NorCom
to ensure smooth implementation right up to the go-live stage. By
collaborating with Nova Television, NorCom will identify the customer’s
specific broadcasting requirements and provide it with a system tailored to
meet its specific needs. The aim is to offer an innovative and
cost-efficient solution by providing a suitable combination of editorial,
technical and creative support.
In addition to the scalable architecture of NCPower and NCArchive, the
availability of storage capacity and the necessary bandwidth was a key
factor in Nova Television’s decision to go with NCPower. In this way, all
newsroom staff are able to directly access all information available and
view the video material.
BCE Broadcast technology Manager Jean Lampach sees numerous advantages in
using NCPower: 'NCPower is a cost-efficient and high-quality solution
meeting all the requirements of a modern TV broadcaster. We are convinced
that with NCPower NorCom is offering a product which can handle the
challenges arising from the emerging technological infrastructures. The
system does away with the need to work with tapes and ultimately allows us
to implement the 'ingest once, using many times' principle. The recycling
of pre-ingested material will form the model underlying our future
end-to-end process from production through to playout.'
