NorCom with second major sales success for NCPower in the Middle East

- TV broadcaster Al Watan in Kuwait opting for NCPower
- Market position in the Middle East further extended

Munich, July 10, 2007 – Following on from its sales success in Beirut,
Lebanon last April, NorCom Information Technology AG has now gained a
further Middle East TV broadcaster as a customer. After presenting NCPower
at CABSAT, the region’s most important media and communications fair, in
March 2007, NorCom received a contract from Al Watan TV.

Based in Kuwait, the private broadcaster plans to go on air in August and
will be the first high definition entertainment channel in the Middle East
area. Originally a publishing company, Al Watan is launching Al Watan TV as
a full-scale commercial broadcaster with a heavy news and magazine content.
In the wake of Al Watan’s systematic diversification strategy, it was
attracted to NCPower as an open and innovative product which will also
accommodate further distribution channels such as IPTV or Mobile TV in the
future.

Extensive features and cost-efficient solution

The end-to-end support provided by NCPower for newsroom processes from
planning to playing out ensures that Al Watan is able to reach a maximum
level of production quality. At the same time, NorCom supplies a
cost-efficient and innovative solution, which allows all content to be
produced more quickly, flexibly and efficiently via a modern integration
platform.

Despite the high complexity of the system environment to be digitized at Al
Watan, NCPower ensures homogenous and convenient management of all
multimedia content. The decision-makers at Al Watan were particularly taken
with the open software architecture and platform independence. As NCPower
can be used in heterogeneous environments comprising both Windows and
Apple-based components as well as different languages (English and Arabic),
Al Watan will be able to extend the system in the future with the best
add-ons available in the market.

With its diversification strategy, Al Watan is typical of the many TV
broadcasters currently being established in this region. The Middle East in
particular is an extremely promising market for NorCom. With over 1,000 TV
broadcasters, content production and management is still in its infancy.
NorCom is therefore giving top priority to entering the market as early as
possible and establishing itself as the prime innovator.

'The contract from Kuwait strengthens our position in the growth markets of
the Middle East and marks a further systematic step in our efforts to gain
a strong foothold in the local media market,' says Viggo Nordbakk, CEO of
NorCom AG. 'Aside from the Middle East, our core regions also include, of
course, Germany, Central and North America as well as Eastern Europe, where
we have achieved many successes,' he adds.

'The complete and end-to-end integration of the Apple editing solution in
NCPower was one of the many strong arguments in favor of this product.
Professional and, above all, swift implementation - as already demonstrated
at other broadcasters - was a further factor in our decision to entrust
NorCom AG with this project,' explains Ihab El Baba, CTO at Al Watan TV in
Kuwait.

NorCom’s long-term goal is to position itself with NCPower as a prime
innovator of media solutions for producing and processing multimedia
content for all distribution channels including TV, IPTV and mobile TV.
