Segment results are presented in the same manner as we manage our business internally to make operating decisions and assess performance. Our chief operating decision maker ("CODM") views all operating expenses, interest expense and corporate overhead as directly supporting the strategies of our segments. As a result, starting in 2021 these costs are fully allocated to our reportable segments. Prior to this change, the difference between total segment allocated interest expense, depreciation and amortization, and the corresponding consolidated amounts was attributable to our corporate headquarters.

The historical segment information has been recast to conform to the current allocation methodology of corporate operating and other expenses to the segments.  Interest expense is charged to segments based on the carrying amount of inventory and receivables employed by that segment. The following reconciles total segment profit to consolidated income before income taxes (in millions):
